Amazon has removed a book co-authored by Tommy Robinson, a day after he was de-platformed on Facebook.

The book, titled Mohammed’s Koran: Why Muslims Kill For Islam, was published in 2017 and was on sale as recently as three days ago, according to anti-Islamophobia charity Tell MAMA.

An Amazon spokesman said: “As a bookseller, we provide our customers with access to a variety of viewpoints, including books that some customers may find objectionable.

“That said, we reserve the right not to sell certain inappropriate content.”

It comes as the far-right activist and ex-English Defence League leader was banned from Facebook and Instagram on Tuesday.

It means YouTube is the only major platform hosting Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, after Twitter banned him in March last year.

On Amazon, Robinson’s author page is still up, and his first book, Enemy of the State, which can still be purchased.

A link to the banned book is still live, with reviews still visible, but there is no link to purchase it.

Amazon’s seller guidelines says it bans products that “promote or glorify hatred, violence, racial, sexual or religious intolerance or promote organisations with such views”.

A statement from Facebook on Tuesday said the social media firm strived to facilitate an environment for free speech, but that it was committed to taking action against any ideas and opinions which foster intimidation or exclusion in society.

It added: “Tommy Robinson’s Facebook page has repeatedly broken these standards, posting material that uses dehumanising language and calls for violence targeted at Muslims. He has also behaved in ways that violate our policies around organised hate.

“As a result, in accordance with our policies, we have removed Tommy Robinson’s official Facebook Page and Instagram profile. This is not a decision we take lightly, but individuals and organisations that attack others on the basis of who they are have no place on Facebook or Instagram.
