The new series of Strictly Come Dancing is less than a month away, but one contestant still has no idea what is going on.

Bill Bailey has admitted he is “still in the dark” about his upcoming stint on the BBC ballroom show.

Appearing on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, Bill said: “I don’t really know much about what’s going on.

“We haven’t really started properly at all. At this stage, I’m a little bit in the dark about it.”

He said: “Obviously I’ve seen the show”, but he added: “As far as the training and who I’m going to be dancing with… I’m still in the dark.”

Bill is one of 12 contestants competing on this year’s Strictly, along with the likes of former home secretary Jacqui Smith, Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo, actor Caroline Quentin, reality star Jamie Laing and boxer Nicola Adams.

The show has made a number of changes due to the coronavirus pandemic, including running for four weeks less than usual.

According to the BBC, the stars and professionals will be required to form a support bubble together, so they won’t need to social distance while they’re performing.

This means at last one half of each partnership will have to live alone for the duration of the series.

It’s also been revealed that the cast will be regularly tested for coronavirus, and if they are positive for Covid-19, they will need to self-isolate for two weeks, meaning they will lose their spot on the show.

The BBC also been teased that some class of pre-recorded show, potentially this year’s launch episode, will be filmed on 12 October, prior to the competition launching on 24 October.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
