Cheryl Tweedy has admitted she’s well and truly over being asked whether her relationship with ex-boyfriend Liam Payne has inspired her new music.
Last year, Cheryl returned to the pop scene after a long absence with comeback single Love Made Me Do It, and was quick to dispel rumours that the track was about her recent break-up.
She’s since released follow-up track Let You, and has once again been forced to shoot down speculation that it was inspired by the former One Direction star, a conversation topic she has told the Evening Standard is starting to get a little old.
“Even if I received a song, say they wrote a hit and they wanted me to sing it … or Baa Baa green sheep, it doesn’t matter - somebody’s going to say something [about Liam],” she said. “I can’t think about it like that or it would hinder the things I want to write about. It’s really annoying.
“Even previous songs have always been about somebody else and I do get it but it’s just not the case.”
However, Cheryl did add that being in the public eye does mean such rumours are “unavoidable”, even if it is starting to grow tiresome.
Earlier this week, Cheryl dispelled the suggestion that a model featured in her most recent music video was deliberately hired because of his resemblance to her famous ex.
She said at the time: “Have you seen him? It looks nothing like [Liam]... he’s got a tattoo - that’s about all they’ve got in common.”
