Donald Trump's Tax Avoidance Denial Only Makes Things Spectacularly Worse

Nice try, Donald.

Donald Trump tried to defend himself against claims he could have avoided paying taxes for 18 years with a rather bizarre argument.

In much the same bizarre manner as that 3am sex tape tweet that confused his millions of Twitter followers, the Republican US presidential nominee came out with a spectacular rebuttal to the allegations on Sunday.

I know our complex tax laws better than anyone who has ever run for president and am the only one who can fix them. #failing@nytimes

But the logic didn’t seem to win over most people, who suggested quandaries that would be posed by the same argument.

Isn't this like a serial killer asking you to elect him as a judge because he promises to close the murder loopholes in our law? #TrumpTaxes https://t.co/J88IfY2OSW

I figured this would be his strategy. Weak. I got away with murder so make me the prosecutor. https://t.co/LdtsWapDAI

While the Guardian’s Ben Jacobs pointed out that Trump’s retort was actually a non-denial.

Trump takes to Twitter at last on the NYT story with a non-denial https://t.co/gMWZmNBobX

With others taking issue with his inability to properly use Twitter.

FFS. The guy can't even get a hashtag right. https://t.co/TLJsPtEzN4

TFW you stay up all night writing a hatetweet and you fuck up the hashtag by putting an @ in the middle https://t.co/pGBC7KrpB3
