Amanda Holden And Ariana Grande Lead Our Fave Celebrity Halloween Costumes Of 2019

We also have to applaud Geri Horner and Demi Lovato for their spooky efforts.

We all know that celebs generally don’t need much encouragement when it comes to dressing up, so when Halloween rolls around, you can usually count on some impressive costumes.

Thankfully, this year is no exception, with stars giving us some elaborate and creepy outfits, with not a pair of pound shop devil horns in sight.

Here’s a selection of our stand-outs...

Amanda Holden as Morticia Addams

Refusing to let a little thing like a broken leg get in the way of her having some Halloween fun, Mandy dressed up as Morticia Addams to mark the spookiest day in the calendar.

She shared this video of herself rolling into the Heart studio on her scooter, accompanied by The Addams Family theme tune, while co-hosts Jamie Theakston and Ashley Roberts also became Lurch and Wednesday Addams, respectively.

Geri Horner as Cillian Murphy

The Spice Girls singer got into the Halloween spirit early, sharing this video of herself on Instagram inspired by Peaky Blinders.

Geri even donned a pretty convincing Brummie accent for the occasion, which some fans commented was “better than the cast”. Take that, anyone who docked Geri “fun points” for her recent appearance on Drag Race UK.

Ariana Grande as a Twilight Zone version of herself

Ariana Grande sat in make-up for five hours for her costume, which was inspired by the Twilight Zone episode Eye Of The Beholder, which sees a regular-looking woman wake up in a world surrounded by pig-faced people, eventually undergoing surgery to become one herself.

“Final procedure was a success,” she wrote on Instagram, later tweeting that she’d transformed her whole home into The Twilight Zone in honour of Halloween:

Jessica Biel as Justin Timberlake

For those who missed it, Jessica Biel was left looking a little red-faced last week, when old interview resurfaced in which she admitted she was far from an *NSYNC fan (despite eventually going on to marry their most famous member, Justin Timberlake).

What better way to make it up to her husband than donning an outfit inspired by his boyband days in the early 2000s. Justin was also present, but looked less than enthused to be dressed as a microphone for the evening.

Mrs Hinch as a sponge victim

No, the cleaning expert isn’t a celebrity in the way of some of the other stars on this list, but Mrs Hinch’s Halloween effort was so on brand we couldn’t not include it in our round-up.

Sharing a photo on the morning of Halloween, Mrs Hinch revealed that her outfit consisted of a Minky sponge pierced through her face, with her username written on her chest in fake scars.

Ever taken your love for a minkeh a little too far?” she joked.

Rose McGowan as Mia Farrow

Actress and Me Too trail-blazer Rose McGowan decided to use Halloween as a way of paying tribute to who she described as “one of the greatest women ever”.

Brandishing a terrifying-looking knife and sporting a 1970s dress, Rose gave a convincing Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby, often hailed as among the greatest horror films of all time.

Rose also referenced the film on Instagram writing: “Do you like my haircut? it’s Vidal Sassoon.”

Kylie Jenner as Madonna

We all know the Kardashian-Jenner family don’t take a lot of encouragement when it comes to dressing up, whether it’s for the Met Gala, Halloween or just… y’know, a way to keep themselves amused on a particularly boring Tuesday.

This year, Kylie Jenner paid tribute to one of pop culture’s most memorable moments, teaming up with BFF Massie to become Madonna and Britney Spears at the 2003 VMAs, even sharing the briefest of kisses.

Stormi as Kylie Jenner

But Kylie didn’t leave it at her Madonna costume, even getting her one-year-old daughter Stormi in on the fun.

In the lead-up to the big day, Kylie posted a picture of Stormi dressed in a miniature version of her outfit from this year’s Met Ball, complete with a pastel wig and giant furry sleeves.

Frankly, we’re speechless.

Anne-Marie as Billie Eilish

After well and truly blowing up in 2019, gothy musician Billie Eilish was understandably a huge inspiration to celebrities this Halloween, with stars like Jameela Jamil, Nina Dobrev and even boyband singer Edwin Honoret dressing up as the Bury A Friend singer.

Our personal favourite, though, was Anne-Marie, who attended Kiss’ Haunted House Party in a luminous green outfit looking a dead ringer for her fellow chart-topper (even Billie was impressed, noting the “accuracy” on her Instagram Story).

Ciara as Beyoncé

Like Anne-Marie, Ciara wanted to pay tribute to one of her peers with a costume inspired by Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s APESHIT music video.

Roping in husband Russell Wilson, the pair posed for photographs in front of a Mona Lisa-esque photo of Barack and Michelle Obama, while wearing identical suits to the ones seen in the musical royal couple’s iconic clip.

From the Wilsons to the Carters to the Obamas... Much Love & Respect. We goin Ape $#!%,” Ciara wrote of the seriously impressive outfits.

Missy Elliott as herself

If you can’t think of an outfit, why not just go as one of your own most memorable looks?

Off the back of her Video Vanguard win at this year’s VMAs, Missy Elliott decided to reference her debut album cover, released 22 years ago. And as you can see, she has aged precisely zero days in the time since...

The cast of Black-ish as the cast of Us

We were waiting to see who would go as the family from Jordan Peele’s latest horror offering, and we were pleased to see the stars of Black-ish did it perfectly.

Tracee Ellis Ross was a brilliant tethered Lupita Nyong’o, but – as with the film itself – the true star is teenage daughter Zora, played in Us by Shahadi Wright Joseph, and in this Black-ish version by Marsai Martin.

Demi Lovato as Marie Antoinette and Pennywise

What do you do when you’re torn between two costume ideas and just can’t make your mind up? Well, if you’re fortunate enough to be as popular as Demi Lovato, you go with both of them.

Last week, the Solo singer shared photos of herself in glamorous Marie Antoinette garb, later getting into the creepier spirit of Halloween by channelling Pennywise the clown from Stephen King’s It.

I told y’all I don’t play on Halloween,” she told fans, and clearly she was not wrong.

Elizabeth Hurley as Anneka Rice

Like us, Elizabeth Hurley clearly felt that Anneka’s time on Strictly Come Dancing was cut short too soon, and decided to pay homage to her this Halloween.

Donning a blonde wig and a yellow catsuit in what we can only assume was a tribute to Anneka’s final Strictly routine, she was clearly in the party spirit, but then, dressed as such an iconic TV personality, who wouldn’t be?

What’s that? Kill Bill? The Bride? Never heard of it...
