How To Find Peace of Mind With Uncomfortable Emotions

When was the last time you actually sat still for one moment? In the busyness of our daily lives, this can be very difficult, especially if you do not want to feel uncomfortable emotions. However, the ironic thing is that in order to deal with the uncomfortable emotions - whatever they may be - they need to be felt - not ignored.

"Bzzzzzzz" this is how the bee meditation started. I sat there with my eyes closed, and my ears covered, listening to the sound of my own humming. As I sat on the grassy knoll in Wales, listening to the trees rustling and the stream running, I fell into a peaceful reverie that sent me off into a state of bliss....

It then occurred to me, how often do we really get to sit still?

When was the last time you actually sat still for one moment? In the busyness of our daily lives, this can be very difficult, especially if you do not want to feel uncomfortable emotions. However, the ironic thing is that in order to deal with the uncomfortable emotions - whatever they may be - they need to be felt - not ignored.

But it is only if you sit still in the discomfort that you will find comfort. I know this sounds ironic, but when you sit in stillness, you can find peace. Thoughts are what create discomfort but for you to find the comfort - stillness needs to ensue. For stillness to ensue, pausing needs to happen. It is at this point that clarity can emerge and the healing can start. That is why our innate wisdom is so powerful.

Having been involved in personal development for the last seven years and practiced yoga for 13, I have managed to overcome a lot of emotional blocks as a direct result of listening to my own innate wisdom and creating the space to find peace, as have my clients. Finding peace and listening to you are part of the same coin. You cannot have one without the other.

I don't know about you, but I believe that peace of mind is the biggest gift we can ever give to ourselves. In my view peace creates freedom and freedom creates the opportunity for us to live a joyous and fulfilled life. After all is it not our birth-right to live a life well lived?
