Kate Garraway Confirms Husband Is In Intensive Care After Contracting Coronavirus

The Good Morning Britain star is in "strict isolation" with her two children, while her husband, Derek Draper, is in hospital.

Kate Garraway has confirmed that her husband, Derek Draper, has been hospitalised after contracting coronavirus.

The daytime presenter’s husband was admitted to hospital on Monday, where he tested positive for Covid-19, and is now in intensive care.

A representative for Kate has said: “Kate’s husband Derek Draper has been taken to hospital and is being treated in intensive care with a confirmed case of Covid-19.

“He was admitted on Monday and has since tested positive for the virus.”

The Good Morning Britain host’s spokesperson added that while she has not been tested for coronavirus, she also began “displaying mild symptoms” earlier this week, and as a result, is “on strict isolation with her children at home”.

Metro has noted that since Kate began self-isolating, Ranvir Singh has been presenting GMB in her place, co-hosting with Ben Shephard.

A number of Kate’s co-stars from ITV daytime have been sending her love on social media, including fellow GMB anchors Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan.

Piers wrote: ”Now it’s been made public, I can say this horrendous situation has brought the coronavirus crisis sharply into the hearts of all of us [at Good Morning Britain]. My love and prayers to Kate and Derek.”

Susanna added simply: “All my love to Kate and Derek.”

Kate married Derek, a former political aide to then-Labour cabinet minister Peter Mandelson, in 2005.

He is the author of two books, Blair’s 100 Days and Life Support.

The couple, who are both 52, have a 14-year-old daughter and a 11-year-old son, Darcey and William.
