Piers Morgan might have boycotted attending last night’s National Television Awards, but he still watched from home where he made his feelings very clear about new host David Walliams.

The Good Morning Britain presenter didn’t hold back when it came to the Britain’s Got Talent judge, labelling him a “dickhead” on Twitter.

David took over hosting duties from Dermot O’Leary for this year’s NTAs after the X Factor presenter announced he was stepping down last year.

However, his first stint fronting the annual bash came under heavy fire from Piers throughout the night.

“David Walliams already very very annoying. #NTAs,” he quipped at the start of the show.

Piers then name-checked Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais, who was in the audience, tweeting: “Walliams bombing so badly. Unbearable to know @rickygervais is sitting in the audience but we have to endure this horror hosting. Come on Ricky, storm the stage.”

When a trouserless David took to the stage in reference to Judy Finnigan’s unintentional bra-flashing back at the 2001 NTAs, it was too much for Piers.

“F*** me. Just when you thought it couldn’t possibly get any worse, creepy Walliams strips half naked to give himself an award,” he wrote.

When a follower asked why he hated the host so much, Piers replied: “Nothing personal - he’s just a massive d***head.”

Piers has made no secret of his dislike of David, previously branding him a “snivelling toady” after the comedian and author liked a string of tweets criticising him despite being nice to his face.

And it wasn’t just David who was a target...

On Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, Piers revealed he was boycotting this year’s NTAs because he didn’t want to see Ant and Dec win and This Morning beat GMB again.

“I would rather garrotte myself than sit through another Ant and Dec, Holly and Phil carve up so I will be at home with a nice bottle of wine,” he said.

He added: “The winners have to be Holly and Phil and Ant and Dec. I’m not saying they fix, but they have the same agent.

“It’s important that they win not least for their gigantic egos.”
