Rihanna has shared a short but meaningful message with her fans as the US awaits the results of the presidential election.
With things looking promising for Joe Biden, current leader Donald Trump already falsely declared victory on Tuesday morning, claiming at the time: “We will be going to the US Supreme Court, we want all voting to stop.”
Since then, in a series of tweets flagged as “suspicious” by Twitter, Trump wrote that it was “very strange” that “surprise ballot dumps” had eroded his overnight lead in key states.
“How come every time they count mail-in ballot dumps they are so devastating in their percentage and power of destruction?” he tweeted.
On Wednesday night, Rihanna insisted that every vote should be counted, regardless of how long it takes before the victor in the election is discovered.
The Grammy-winning star shared a string of posts on her Instagram feed, spelling out the message: “Count every vote, we’ll wait.”
Rihanna has been publicly critical of Trump throughout his presidency, recently sharing a message of her spray-painting the message “Fuck Trump” on Instagram.
In 2018, she also sent a cease-and-desist letter after learning that her song Don’t Stop The Music was being played a pro-Trump rally.
After hearing that the song was being used at one such event, Rihanna tweeted political journalist Philip Rucker to say: “Not for much longer… me nor my people would ever be at or around one of those tragic rallies, so thanks for the heads up Philip.”
Joe Biden has received a wave of A-list support in the lead-up to the election, including from stars like Beyoncé, Jennifer Lawrence, Cardi B and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Trump, on the other hand, has seemingly found celebrity endorsements a little harder to come by, but did recently receive a show of support from Lil Wayne.
A few days later, he introduced rapper Lil Pump on stage with him at one of his final pre-election rallies, but struggled with his name.
