Perhaps America’s foremost intelligence agency were confident the evil-doers of the world would be preoccupied with watching the Olympic opening ceremony because they certainly seemed to have a lot of time on their hands on Friday night.

Rather marvellously they turned the (very, very long) parade of athletes into the stadium into one massive trivia quiz.
