Rob Lowe Admits Being 'Confused By The World Of Brexit' While Filming New ITV Drama

"It’s clearly a world looking for its identity."

Rob Lowe has admitted feeling more than a little confused by the “world of Brexit” while recently filming an ITV drama in Lincolnshire.

The US star swapped Hollywood for the town of Boston in order to film Wild Bill and has explained that playing an American newcomer to the East Midlands wasn’t a stretch for him.

Speaking to Radio Times magazine, Rob described the area as “the world of Brexit” and said he got the impression of a region in transition.

He explained: “I was literally like my character. ‘How far is Boston from London? Can I bike there?’

“I would show up and I wouldn’t have one idea what people were saying. Couldn’t understand a word. I didn’t have to do any acting.”

“It’s clearly a world looking for its identity,” Rob added. “And is in turmoil and transition. And also, I’m pretty sure [it’s] factual: there’s a lot of crime at the moment, a lot of unemployment there.”

While Rob was in the UK for filming he did his best to get his around the weirder aspects of British politics, tweeting about last December’s Jeremy Corbyn “stupid woman” row.

Brexit will be one of the storylines in Wild Bill, which sees Rob play the title character, an experienced American investigator recruited by police in the UK.

He stars alongside Rachael Stirling (Tipping The Velvet), Bronwyn James (Call The Midwife) and Anjli Mohindra (Bodyguard).
