Sarah Jessica Parker has downplayed suggestions a feud is the reason behind Kim Cattrall’s absence from the upcoming Sex And The City revival.

However, Kim, who played Samantha Jones in the original series, will not be reprising her role, prompting much conversation among Sex And The City fans.

After Sarah announced the news on Instagram, one fan commented on her post suggesting Kim is sitting out the reunion is because she and SJP “dislike” each other.

SJP replied: “No, I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would.

“Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X (sic).”

When another fan said they would miss Kim and her character, Sarah added: “We will too, we loved her so.”

Kim has spoken out against Sarah on a number of occasions in the past.

She blasted her former co-star in an Instagram post after SJP reached out to her following the death of her brother, Chris, in 2018.

After SJP offered her condolences, Kim responded: “I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker.”

She then captioned the image: “My Mom asked me today ‘When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’ Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.”

She continued: “Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”

Kim then posted a link to a New York Post article entitled: “Inside the mean-girls culture that destroyed ‘Sex and the City’.”

Kim had previously told Piers Morgan that she had “never been friends” with any of her castmates when filming Sex And The City, after it emerged she had turned down the chance to appear in a third film based on the TV series.

During an appearance on ITV’s Life Stories, she described her relationship with the US show as “toxic” and said she felt SJP “could have been nicer”.

Following the interview, Sarah said “some of us were disappointed” at Kim’s comments, admitting she had found them “hurtful”.

“But I never responded...” she told People magazine at the time. “So there was no fight; it was completely fabricated, because I actually never responded.

“And I won’t, because she needed to say what she needed to say, and that is her privilege.”

Sex And The City originally ran for six series between 1998 and 2004, with two films based on the show following in 2008 and 2010.
