Strictly Come Dancing professional Karen Hauer has spoken for the first time about ex-husband Kevin Clifton’s new romance with his former dance partner Stacey Dooley.
Karen and Kevin split in 2018 after three years of marriage, but have continued to dance together professionally, including on last year’s Strictly, which he won with documentary presenter Stacey.
Since the series ended, the pair have announced that they’re in a relationship, which Karen was asked for her feelings about during an interview on Fubar Radio.
“I don’t really know anything about that,” she explained. “When we go [into rehearsals] we’re literally going crazy with all the routines. But you know what he looks extremely happy, so I’m happy that he’s happy.”
Karen added: “Most people think that we’d be like ‘oh I don’t like it’, but no. Not at all. We laugh. There is no drama. I’m happy, he’s happy, let’s all be happy!
“I’m so proud of him and all the things he’s been doing lately. For us, it’s never been a problem and it never will be a problem. We’re really cool.”
Despite their split, Karen was among the first people to congratulate Kevin on his Strictly victory at the end of last year, making headlines with her excitable reaction.
Stacey spoke for the first time about her relationship with Kevin last month, revealing the pair are deliberately keeping things private, and had turned down several magazine offers to take about their romance.
“Kev and I have agreed not to go into too much detail about our private lives because you can’t really indulge that and then ask for privacy.
“That’s why we’ve turned down interviews that have offered us tens of thousands of pounds.
“What I am happy to say is Kev’s amazing, I’m happy, life happens, I’ve got an amazing career and I’m very lucky.”
Both Kevin and Karen will return to Strictly for its 17th series later this year.
