I wanted to write you a short note Hillary, to say thank you. I want to thank you for being such a wonderful example to all women of just what is possible for us to aspire to.
I want you to know that what you have done is very important. You have defied the social norms of what women and girls 'must do' and have instead showed us that we can reach new heights and truly strive for whatever it is that we desire to be. You have shown us that we don't have to accept the paths laid down for us by our culture and traditions and that we can instead forge new ones. Most importantly, you have played a very large role in laying the path to finally cracking that ridiculously high glass ceiling.
What is so wonderful about you Hillary is that you have shown us what is possible. As women and girls we now know that we can enter political office and we now know that we can run for President because we have watched you do it. We now know that it is very, very possible to become the leaders of our countries, or the leaders of our own companies or the leaders of whatever it is we want to be.
As I have travelled through many parts of the world I have witnessed levels of violence and discrimination towards women that are truly beyond barbaric. Women and girls everywhere are told that they are second class to men, that they don't deserve to have the same rights to education as men and they don't have the same rights to respect as men. They don't even have the same rights to walk down the street free from degrading comments as men do. Women are told that they are weak. That they're not capable. Women are told they must accept and tolerate violence from men because it's their 'culture.'
Well, Hillary what you have done is been an example for all of those women and girls that they do not need to accept that. You have shown them that they don't have to tolerate discrimination from men and you have shown them that there is another way. But most importantly, you have shown women everywhere that not only do have they have the right to demand respect but that they must demand respect. You have shown us that women are strong and that women are most certainly capable. You have shown us just how powerful a woman can be.
So for that I thank you. And I ask that for whatever you do next is a continuance of your tremendous work. I hope that you continue to throw rocks at that glass ceiling and that you continue to help other women and girls to throw rocks too. We need you to do that, women everywhere need you to do that. Thank you for your courage, thank you for your tremendous strength and most importantly thank you so much for being such a wonderful inspiration.
Now women and girls everywhere, we have some rocks to throw. Lets get going!
