First making a name on the New York nightclub scene, RuPaul Charles has won fans worldwide with a career spanning almost three decades. From the release of the hit single Supermodel in 1993, he has gone on to release fourteen albums and has starred in countless films and TV shows, most famously the international phenomenon RuPaul’s Drag Race.
At this year’s UK DragWorld convention, drag kings performed as well as drag queens. Despite queens being the most popular, other interpretations of drag are starting to gain greater recognition across the country. And as the UK looks to welcome RuPaul’s Drag Race in the Autumn, the scene looks set to take off further.
