A 77-year-old British woman has become the oldest person to sail around the world solo and unassisted. Jean Socrates arrived back in British Columbia on Saturday, September 7 after spending 330 days alone at sea. She began her voyage back in October 2018.
A forest planted inside an Austrian soccer stadium opened to the public on Sunday (September 8) with a message that one day nature might only be enjoyed in a museum-like environment. Basel-based artist Klaus Littmann set up the forest of 300 trees in Klagenfurt's 30,000-capacity Woerthersee stadium for the "For Forest" exhibition that will run until Oct. 27.

A hungry thief broke into a sandwich shop to make himself a midnight snack. The incident took place at a Subway in Washington DC at around 1.49am on 2 August. CCTV footage shows the man falling over the shop counter before preparing himself some food.

Mugabe was ousted from power in a military coup in November 2017, ending his three-decade reign. While the West regards the 95-year-old as an autocrat, some in Africa saw him as an anti-colonial champion.
A black bear cub was found napping in the toilet sinks of a lodge in Montana, USA. The young animal managed to sneak in through an open window before sprawling out across the counter to go for a quick snooze. The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office and Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks were later called, and worked together to safely remove the bear.
Dame Barbara Windsor has thanked fans for signing her Dementia petition as she delivered it to Prime Minister Boris Johnson at Downing Street. Dementia is the biggest challenge to health and care services facing the UK according to the Alzheimer’s Society, with one million people expected to suffer from the disease by 2021.
