Idomeni

The only thing certain about the refugee crisis in Idomeni, Greece is you never know what is going to happen next. Idomeni was the first official land border crossing for Afghani, Iraqi and Syrian refugees traveling from the Greek islands to Northern Europe. And after two months of working in Idomeni everyday (bar one) I thought I understood the situation. Nothing however prepared me for the crisis that unfolded next.
Last summer the refugee crisis dominated the media, I read article after article describing the conditions and the difficulties that refugees were facing in their attempt to escape war and search for the opportunity of a better life. As I sat in my flat in Istanbul reading the stories of refugees - I decided it was time to do something.
For vulnerable people like Leyla and Ahmed the road ahead is fraught with danger, and until refugees are provided with safe passage across borders the threat of violence or abuse will shadow them at every turn.
