The prime minister Boris Johnson is back to give the latest coronavirus update after recovering from the disease and his partner Carrie Symonds announcing the birth of a baby boy yesterday. It also comes with government under pressure to hit its target of testing 100,000 people per day by the end of April.

Johnson, 55, and Ms Symonds, 32, announced in March that they were expecting a baby in “early summer”, and that they had become engaged at the end of last year. The PM has previously suggested he intends to take paternity leave, although it is not known if this remains the case given the coronavirus pandemic.
