Andy West's journalistic career began in the newsroom at Blackpool's Wave FM. He then moved up through the world of commercial radio news, before dropping out of it altogether and landing at BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat programme. From there, he went to BBC Radio 2. He remains the only radio journalist to have interviewed serving Mi6 agents from within the secret service's Vauxhall headquarters.
