Dame Caroline Spelman

Former secretary of state for environment, Conservative MP for Meriden

Caroline Spelman has been the MP for the Meriden constituency since 1997. In 2010, she was appointed as the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and held that appointment until 2012. Before Caroline entered politics, she worked in the sugar industry for 15 years. She is currently a Vice President of Tearfund, a member of the Joint Committee on Modern Day Slavery, a member of Net Positive, Kingfisher and a member of GLOBE International. She is married to Mark, a management consultant and they have 3 children.
