born in 1953, Knut Fleckenstein is the Vice-president of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament. He has been a member of the SPD in Germany since 1974 and is a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs in the EU Parliament.
