Mike John Matthews

Mike is an occasional freelance wine writer and blogger www.magicsnewbiewines.com

I began my wine career back in 1995, with the now defunct First Quench Retailing, splitting my role in store management with wine tutoring.

After the demise of FQR I helped in setting up a small independent wine store, North & South Wines LTD, in Battersea, London in August 2010.

I began my blog, The Oenophiliac, in April 2011, writing under my pseudonym "Magic Mike."

As a freelancer I have had work published in Harpers Wine & Spirit Trades Review, as well as blog posts on the magazines website.

In 2015 I became the co-founder for another independent drinks merchant in Twickenham, London, called Warren Wines.

I am a keen follower of Rugby. During the season you will find me sitting at my spot in the stands watching Harlequins.

I also love music too, I am a drummer for my sins. You might find me playing around London with my band.
