Band Aid 30: Daft Punk Will NOT Appear On French Version Of Charity Single, Despite Bob Geldof's Initial Statements

Did Daft Punk Turn Down Band Aid 30?

Band Aid 30 may have topped the UK Singles Chart - and raised millions of pounds for charity in the process - however, it hasn’t all been smooth-sailing for the project.

The UK recording of the track ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ was shunned by Adele, despite the fact Bob Geldof previously stated that she would be taking part, and now Daft Punk appear to have declined the chance to appear on the french version.

Speaking at the London press conference to launch Band Aid 30, Bob revealed plans for a French version of the song, adding that Daft Punk were on board with the project.

However, the official list of artists has now been released, and the ‘Get Lucky’ creators are noticeably absent.

Stars who will appear on ‘Noël Est Là’ include Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Lou Doillon, and Vanessa Paradis.

Since its release, the reboot of ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ has faced criticism from a number of people, including Emeli Sande who features on the song.

In a lengthy statement posted on her Twitter page, Emeli discusses her decision to lend her vocals to the track, apologising to anyone offended by the track and claiming that a number of new lines she recorded had been left on the cutting room floor.

Despite the backlash, Bob is moving forward with plans to release more versions of the track, including one featuring just the female vocalists.
