Gordon Brown is set to confirm that he will step down as an MP, bringing to an end his long parliamentary career and time at the top of the Labour party.
The former prime minister and chancellor will announce his resignation on Monday night in his Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath constituency, as sources say he "wants to go out on a high".
