A dad is embracing single parenthood by taking the alternative family photos he's always wanted.
Mike Allen, who now shares custody of his two daughters aged six and seven, said he wanted to do something a bit different to the typical staged family photo.
Instead, he decided to do an "80s-style ski-fashion shoot".
Allen's daughters wore brightly-coloured ski gear, aviators, and the eldest crimped her hair.
Taken by Chad Braithwaite of Faces Photography, it serves as a nice reminder that not all family photos have to be awkward.
Allen told BuzzFeed News: "I thought it would be fun to mix it up and do something different.
"The girls love skiing and I love the 80s!"
After getting the pictures back, Allen decided to post one of the pictures to Imgur, which has now been viewed nearly four million times.
Braithwaite said after going back and forth on the ideas for the shoot, he thinks they landed pretty much the best idea ever.
He said: "Let’s just say his two daughters were full of energy and which made showing their personality not a problem with this photo shoot."
Allen said while being a single dad has its challenges, the best thing he has done is to maintain a strong co-parenting relationship.
He added: "You can only control what you can control. For me that means being involved as much as I can and exposing them to different types of activities that we can all enjoy."
