Six Real-Life Tony Stark Billionaires Who Have Built Incredible Machines

Here Are 6 Real-Life Tony Starks And Their Incredible Creations
|

These six modern-day Tony Starks don't really accept the word 'no'.

Their stubbornness combined with their equally enormous wealth and intelligence give them the unique ability of being able to imagine something and then watch it become a reality.

From Elon Musk's incredible Hyperloop concept, to the game-changing Martin jetpack these creations are literally changing the world around us.

Much in the same way that Bruce Wayne was able to spend his millions building a secret cave underneath his mansion, these people have built their own childhood dreams.

Whether it's a campervan that looks like Optimus Prime, or a stealth boat that wouldn't look out of place in a bond film these people are literally building the future.

As President of Disney Imagineering Bran Ferren was responsible for the top-secret organisation which turned Walt Disney's imaginings into real-life rides and rollercoasters. Remember the Tower of Terror? Test Track? Ferren's work. After Disney he created the company Applied Minds, a skunk works that produced anything and everything that came to the minds of its employees. One such example is what you see above you: KiraVan. It's possibly the most advanced camper van you'll ever seen in your life. It has enough supplies for 2000 days and has drones that can fly ahead and scout the surrounding environment. Why does it exist? Kira is Bran's daughter and he built the entire thing for the mother of all father/daughter road trips.

Gregory Sancoff own Juliet Marine Systems. You probably won't have heard of them and that's fine, neither had we. What you should know however is that Sancoff is a man driven by solving problems, after 31 years of inventing the man now has over 45 patents to his name. Upon creating Juliet he entered the world of shipbuilding with his finest achievement being this, the Ghost. Looking like Bruce Wayne's speedboat Ghost is an ultra-fast stealth ship that features the world's first super-cavitating hull. By surrouding the submerged parts of the hull with a layer of gas the ship glides through the water literally cutting through the waves. It's steered using a state-of-the-art onboard computer so you simply point the joystick in the direction of where you want to go and let the boat do the rest.

What kind of feature would this be without Elon Musk. This genius billionaire is the closest thing you'll get to Tony Stark minus the suit. With his Space X company he's now one of the leading private space contractors while down on the surface he owns one of the coolest brands on the planet: Tesla. The Model S is an all-electric saloon that boasts supercar performance and still manages a range of 300-miles before needing a charge. In his spare time he likes inventing revolutionary new transport solutions in the form of 'Hyperloop'.

Glen Martin is the perfect example of how a person can jump into the realms of the unknown and come out the other side with something amazing, in this case a jetpack. Having originally worked in the medical industry Martin decided to try something new and so founded the Martin Jetpack company. The result as you can see, looks like you've just strapped a Star Wars pod racer to your back.

As a child Son was a big fan of Astro Boy: the small robot boy who could never show emotions. Taking inspiration from that Son set about creating the first emotional robot. His first effort is this, Pepper. Pepper has been designed as the first robot to understand what you're feeling and then react appropriately. No it's not artificial intelligence but it's empathy, and that's a hell of a step-forward for any non-organic object.

Astro Teller (Born Eric Teller) encapsulates everything you think of when you picture an eccentric genius. He's the director of Google X, the top-secret R&D division within Google that creates everything from Google Glass to Google Car, the happy-looking vehicle you see above. The company has been shrouded in mystery for years with only a handful of projects appearing in the public domain. One of the most notable was Project Loon, a plan to increase internet coverage across the world using giant balloons. It sounds insane but Teller and his team turned it into reality.
