NASA has unveiled an incredible new 3D video of the Apollo 11 landing site which shows where man first landed on the Moon in 1969.

The new footage has only become possible thanks to the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO); a tiny satellite which has been mapping the Moon for around five years.

NASA has been able to create a 3D map of the landing site by combining two large sets of images that were taken by the LRO, they then combined them at slightly different angles creating the illusion of 3D.

This was then put into the computer which created a digital 3D terrain.

To help add to the effect NASA has created a 3D model of the Lunar Module Descent stage as they found that despite the thousands of photos the module still looked 2D as opposed to the rest of the environment which was 3D.

The latest footage comes just days after the 45th anniversary of the Moon landings where Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin touched down on the Southern Rim of the Sea of Tranquility.

Both of them apparently spent around two hours carrying out experiments on the surface, causing land disturbance that can still be seen to this day.
