The campaign to re-elect President Obama has spent $10,000 stocking up on nail polish which it will then sell to supporters in $40 branded gift sets.

A report from one of the Democratic National Committee's joint accounts revealed the purchase in February of around $10,000-worth of nail polish designed by Richard Blanch of Le Métier De Beauté.

The official campaign item listing reveals that each of the red, white and blue polishes has been given an election-themed name:

"Designed by Richard Blanch of Le Métier de Beauté. Set of 3 nail lacquers in a collectable make-up bag, 4.0ml each. Red-y To Win Red - A delightfully deep red, a bold pop of color that makes a statement. Victory White - A soft, clean white perfectly polished for every day wear. Bo Blue - A shimmering sapphire blue, a fun take on the classic navy."

The set forms part of the Runway to Win collection which sees big names from the world of fashion creating Obama-themed products to raise funds for the re-election bid.
