Peter Andre is to follow in his ex-wife's footsteps and appear at Oxford University, after Katie Price wowed students and scholars with her performance at Cambridge last week.

The I'm A Celebrity star is to speak at Oxford union on Tuesday but the stakes are high seeing as glamour girl Price, also known as Jordan, beat Rachel Johnson, editor of The Lady sister of London Mayor Boris Johnson.

A spokesman for the union defended Andre's appearance, insisting it was "not dumbing down".

On Friday, Price triumphed in her debate, defending women's ability to juggle a successful career and family life. She joined other famous figures in speaking at the prestigious university such as Kermit the Frog. The self-made millionaire has also spoken at Oxford Union, telling students: "It doesn't matter if you're a single mum or you have financial stuff, I believe that if you really want to do something and put your mind to it, it's feasible, but you really have to be realistic."

Oxford Union confirmed the celebrity would be appearing at the union and told Huffington Post UK: "The format of Mr Andre's talk will be a very short introductory speech, but primarily will consist of a Q&A session as that is the format that we find is most popular with our members for celebrity speakers.
