Vertu 'Constellation' Phone Costs £4095 But Is Decidedly Averagely Specced

Usually titanium, sapphire crystal and calf's leather are reserved for the realms of private jets and luxury cars.

But English company Vertu has felt the need to create a mobile phone with said pricey materials.

It's new Constellation smartphone is a finely crafted and undoubtedly beautiful contraption that costs a whopping £4095.

Which begs the question: Why is it specced so badly?

Beneath the bling and fine materials lie a distinctly average 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor, a 4.3-inch 720p display and 32GB of storage.

It does come with a 13 megapixel camera and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS but this is hardly groundbreaking. You might have at least expected a 1080p screen, or the latest version of Android 4.3 for the equivalent cost of about six unlocked Galaxy Note 3s.

But we suspect the kind of person to buy one will not be much bothered by such things.

It also comes with the rather pretentious sounding Vertu Life and Certainty services - Life gets you int private members' clubs and the like, and Certainty provides device security.

Of course if this still isn't enough for you there is always the company's £6,782 Vertu Ti...
