Stick to some of these rules and less of us may have to go through violent marches coming to our towns and cities

At the very least, stop treating Robinson as some misunderstood free speech martyr

All of this occurs because being a minority, your identity is compartmentalized and you're an 'other'. It's about time those from minority backgrounds were also given the 'luxury' of being treated as individuals and not be judged according to a wider category to which they belong. It's a basic right.

We must ask ourselves, is it really Priti Patel who has been benefiting from her race and ethnicity or have there been quotas which historically have been favouring individuals from the other end of the spectrum, namely those from public schools who are of a particular race and gender?

Yes, we should celebrate our country's exceptional strengths, whilst being able to accept our country's weaknesses, especially from those whom so many consider the 'other', if we are to ensure Britain reaches it's full potential.

Yet many of the young people I speak to regarding their frustrations barely ever mention the ideology behind much of their woes, neoliberalism. The ideology that places it's faith in the market to achieve just outcomes, that champions deregulation and the privatisation of public services, values that contributed majorly to the financial crisis of 2007-08 from which the young and disadvantaged are still struggling to recover from.

Many Mosques in America are used to receiving threatening phone calls and messages, this has become normalised. Yet it is a sign of how far the dehumanisation of Muslims has come that even a bomb attack against a mosque is not considered worthy of eliciting the same level of response as other terror attacks.

Describing an area as a ghetto is also dehumanising, for it allows those in positions of authority to overlook individuals and simply create boxes within which to put communities in. If we wish to create a cohesive society, one in which all are valued, it's about time the negative labelling of areas stopped.

Reading Isn't Uncool Or Unmanly, It's A Key Form Of Resistance And A Means Through Which To Better Our Condition, Especially At Present
To those who think reading isn't for the likes of us, I have this message. It is a key form of resistance and empowerment for individuals within disadvantaged communities. Not only does reading books enable us to better understand the societies around us, but it equips us with the ideas and tools to challenge the status quo.

If we wish to improve cohesion and integration, we need a radically different view about what it means to be British. It's about time those from ethnic minority backgrounds were not viewed with a gaze that seeks to imprison them within narrow allegiances.

Irrespective of what aspirations the major governing parties have for our country, none of these will be possible unless we live in a habitable climate. If we are to tackle the most pressing issue affecting the future of humanity, it will require courage on behalf of our mainstream politicians, to have a much broader vision than one simply focused on a narrow vision of Brexit and to go beyond the confines of identity politics. For the challenges posed by climate change affect us all. It's about time they took centre stage.

The notion of community leaders may appear harmless and informal, yet it is inherently anti democratic, for they are unaccountable and self appointed. Informal though it may appear, it gives added clout to individuals whose views are perceived to have more legitimacy.

A lot more must also be done to achieve parity of esteem between vocational and academic qualifications. Student's mustn't feel that achieving a university degree is something they have to do, even if their talents are best utilised elsewhere.

Our Struggle For Equal Opportunity Has Become Invisible To Governments Only Concerned With Counter Extremism
I've seen plenty of campaigns and events aimed at the Muslim community dedicated to combatting extremism. Yet when I sit with friends I realise the sheer gap between what defines the lives of ordinary Muslims, desires for a sense of belonging, for equality, for a sense that we matter too and what governments and others think has come to define them.

Stopping The Far Right At The Ballot Box Is Only Half The Battle - We Must Also Ensure Mainstream Parties Do Not Adopt Their Rhetoric
We must make clear that our votes and support should not be taken for granted, that we are unwilling to act as mere bystanders in a race to the bottom. For a failure to do so means that the far right has won, irrespective of whether they win on election day.

Integration is 'not a two way street' were the words of Dame Louise Casey earlier in the week as she provided follow up evidence to the House of Commons communities committee following the publication of her report on segregation and immigration into the UK.

We cannot afford to be mere spectators, irrespective of how bad the present situation is, it can always get a lot worse. We cannot allow the far right's narrative of Islam and Muslims being the primary threat to all, go unchallenged. More of us must act, and act beyond our comfort zones, if we are to defeat their narrative.

Muslims have been woefully underrepresented in both public life and politics, with turnout far lower in Europe in elections than other groups. Yet we can no longer afford to remain apathetic. We must not allow their world to be built, no matter how powerless and helpless we feel.
