International journalist with experience in non-profits in Europe, China and Africa

Claudia Delpero is a journalist and policy strategist with 15 years of experience in Europe, China and Africa. In the past she has led international communications programmes for the World Wide Fund for Nature focusing on the European Union and on China-Africa relations. This involved the promotion of environmental indicators such as the ecological footprint. In 2007, she co-organised for WWF an international conference in Brussels on measuring progress beyond GDP. Her geographical reach ranges from political capitals such as Brussels and Beijing to some of the most remote areas of the planet – the Sahel, the Congo Basin and the Tibetan Plateau – where she led reporting missions to generate awareness on food crisis, deforestation and climate change. A consultant for Save the Children in West and Central Africa, prior to the non-profit sector she worked as a Press Officer at the European Parliament and as a freelance journalist in Italy, including for La Repubblica in her hometown Turin. Now based in London, she writes about environment, energy, development and international affairs.
