Heather Killen

CEO and principal shareholder behind Horse & Country TV (Sky Channel 280)

Heather Killen is the CEO and Chairman of H&C TV. Ms. Killen is also a partner in her own London-based corporate advisory and investment firm, Hemisphere Capital, which focuses on new media and technology companies.

Ms. Killen’s experience includes the development and management of Yahoo! Inc’s business outside the US between 1996 and 2001, during which time she grew the company’s non-US business from zero to $170 million in revenue, and over 1,100 employees in more than a dozen countries.

Having begun her career as a journalist with the Australian Financial Review, she worked in corporate finance for Salomon Brothers, Inc in New York, before getting involved in the digital world with special interest publisher, Ziff-Davis. Ms. Killen launched the suite of online services around Ziff-Davis’ portfolio of owned and operated magazines in Europe, later shaping the joint venture struck between the company and Yahoo! for the UK, France and Germany in 1996.

Ms. Killen served as a non-executive director of ITV plc, the UK’s largest commercial broadcaster, from 2007 to 2009. Since she acquired control of Horse & Country TV at the end of 2008, the channel has been named Best Specialist Channel in the prestigious Broadcast Digital Awards in 2011, and shortlisted for the same award, as well as Best Website, in 2012. Horse & Country TV has recently embarked on an international roll-out, launching on cable in the Netherlands in June 2012.
