Chief executive of Women in Film & TV

A BBC trained, award-winning TV producer and director, Kate is a member of BAFTA, the Royal Television Society, Women in Journalism, and Directors UK; she is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Woman of the Year Alumna, a Special Advisor to The European Women’s Audiovisual Network, and visiting Professor of Gender in Media at the University of Hertfordshire.

In 2014 Kate was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List for services to women in the film and television industry and, with Ralph Fiennes and Richard Linklater, was made an Honorary Associate of the London Film School.

Let's Not Pretend That Harvey Weinstein Is One Bad Apple

In the largely freelance world of film, it is difficult for junior people to speak up. And it is always the young and vulnerable who are targeted: sexual predators are deluded, not stupid. Weinstein is the tip of the iceberg. The problem will persist until women have achieved a greater degree of equality across the whole industry. We're making progress. But we're not there yet.
