Monwabisi Grootboom

Monwabisi was born in PortElizabeth, and graduated his first degree in Public Relations in 1998 at the University of Port Elizabeth. He is the Former Manager for Arts and Culture for the City of Durban (eThekwini Municipality) for nine years before resigning in 2012. He is the founder and Executive Producer of 99% Zulu Comedy and 99% Xhosa Comedy series. These are live stand-up comedy productions staged countrywide in vernacular languages. Monwabisi is also currently a BoardMember: 4.1. South African Comedy Awards 4.2. National Arts Council of SA, a funding agency of the National Department of Arts and Culture for the creative industries. Board Chairperson: KwaZulu-Natal United Music Industry of a (KUMISA), a music industry development agency of the KZN Dept of Economic Dev. and Tourism.
