Siyambonga Heleba

Lecturer and Researcher

Siyambonga Heleba is a lecturer in the Faculty of law, University of Johannesburg since September 2009. He is a research associate at the South African Institute for Advanced Constitutional, Public, Human Rights & International Law (SAIFAC). He is a recipient of numerous scholarships. His highest qualification is a Master's degree (LL.M) in International and European Protection of Human Rights obtained from Utrecht University, the Netherlands (2006). His LL.M thesis was on: "The role of the UN Human rights treaty bodies in the fight against terrorism", supervised by Prof Ineke Boerefijn of the Netherlands Institute for Human Rights. He also serves on the editorial board of the Journal on Civil and Legal Sciences. His work has widely cited.
