Tony Dobbins

Professor of Employment Relations & HR Management, University of Birmingham

Tony is Professor/Chair of HR Management and Employment Relations, Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham, UK. His research interests cover the broad area of the future of work; and specific issues like democracy at work, employee voice, trade unions, low pay and the living wage, labour markets, regulation of employment. Previously, he was Professor of Employment Studies at Bangor University. Tony was also employed in various posts in both academia and the private and public sectors. He was an Irish Research Council funded Research Fellow at the Whitaker Institute for Innovation and Societal Change, National University of Ireland Galway, and spent eight years as a journalist in Dublin with Industrial Relations News. Tony regularly publishes his ideas about work and employment in a range of quality media.
