George Galloway has been sacked by TalkRadio after he was accused of “blatant anti-Semitism” by Tottenham Hotspur FC.

On Sunday, the football club condemned the former MP after he said their defeat in the Champions League final meant “no Israeli flags on the Cup”.

Historically, many Tottenham supporters have come from the UK’s Jewish community and a number of chairmen have also been Jewish.

Congratulations to the great people of #Liverpool to the memory of the socialist miner #BillShankley to the fallen #96 to those who fought for justice for them and to the Liverpool dockers. No #Israël flags on the Cup!

In a tweet on Monday morning, Galloway said: “I’ve just been sacked by @talkRADIO See you in Court guys. #Palestine #Moats Long live Palestine.”

In a statement given to Sky News on Sunday, a spokesperson for Tottenham said: “It’s astounding in this day and age to read such blatant anti-Semitism published on a social platform by someone who is still afforded air time on a radio station on which he has previously broken broadcast impartiality rules.”

Galloway, former MP for Bradford, is well-known for his anti-Israeli stance as well as his support for conspiracy theories.

Shortly before the offending tweet, Galloway posted another statement which appears to suggest Israel is conducting a campaign against him.

Apartheid state please note: you will not intimidate me. Not by the ways you’ve already tried or the new ways you’re trying now. Not by calls to my employers not by twitter pile-ons not even by assault. I despise the flag of Apartheid Israël at White Hart Lane Ibrox East Belfast.

Galloway, former MP for Bradford, hosts shows on Russian state-backed channels such as RT and Sputnik.

A recent ruling from Ofcom found one of his broadcasts breached UK rules in a segment about the poisoning of Sergei Skripal.

In 2014 it was revealed Galloway, while still serving as an MP, had earned £65,000 in just six months from his appearances on Kremlin-backed RT and from LBP TV, a channel run out of the offices of Press TV, an Iranian channel which is now banned by Ofcom.

He has been outspoken in his belief that accusations of anti-Semitism in the Labour party is a “black op” fuelled by “Goebbellian propaganda” to “slander” Jeremy Corbyn.
