Jeremy Corbyn And Tom Watson Row Prompts 'The Trotskyite Twist' To Storm Twitter

Everybody's doin' a brand new dance now...

A new dance craze is sweeping Twitter after Tom Watson angered Jeremy Corbyn by warning that “Trotskyite entrists” were infiltrating Labour and and would bring about its destruction.

The deputy Labour leader said: “There are some old hands twisting young arms... They are factionalising and putting pressure where they can, and that’s how Trotsky entryists operate. Sooner or later, that always ends up in disaster.”

The claim prompted a long, detailed and educational discussion on Twitter about whether the party had struggled to re-invent social democracy for the 21st century, leaving it purposeless and in danger of being destroyed by its disenfranchised feeling Hard Left element.

Only joking, it actually triggered a hilarious meme! Everyone was doing the #TrotskyiteTwist.

Watson was advised to try the dance if he ever followed in Ed Balls’ footsteps and did Strictly Come Dancing.

"Next up on Strictly it's Tom Watson dancing the #TrotskyiteTwist."

One tweeter warned that cats could be swept up in the dance as well. Or hurting each other, we can’t actually tell. Heed the warning either way.

Most encouragingly, the meme-session has begun to moot other dances that relate to controversial heroes of Communism.

I'll see your #trotskyitetwist
And I'll raise you....

For the record, I have never danced a #TrotskyiteTwist
Although I have been known to cut a rug with an anarchosyndicalist cha cha cha

Other Far Left figures appeared in the form of terrible puns.

I'd love to do the #TrotskyiteTwist
Alas, I am far too busy Lenin on a lamp-post.

Some of the funniest tweets didn’t reference dancing, suggesting the ‘Twist’ referred to a Soviet Communist version of the beloved game Twister.

WARNING from @tom_watson: Young People! Do not play this game! #TrotskyiteTwist pic.twitter.com/jpYq9tVqlS

We don’t get that either but hey, it’s Twitter.

So don’t expect Corbyn to dance the Trotskyite Twist in Downing Street any time soon.
