The Best Supermarket To Buy Your BBQ Food From This Summer – Revealed

Good Housekeeping blind taste tested 101 different products.

It’s going to be a sizzler around large parts of the country this weekend, which can only mean one thing: BBQ season has officially arrived.

Whether you prefer traditional charcoaled burgers and sausages, or want to go meat-free – you still want to be eating the best.

Thankfully, the folk at Good Housekeeping have tried and tested BBQ fare from leading UK supermarkets to make sure your spread is a winner.

The team blind taste tested 101 different products from 11 supermarkets including Iceland, Tesco, M&S, Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, Waitrose, Co-op, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Ocado. They reviewed burgers, ribs, chicken wings, coleslaw, sausages – and meat-free burgers and meat-free sausages.

Aldi scored the highest, winning top spot in three food categories and runner up in two.

If you enjoy a little coleslaw on the side to cool things down, then Morrisons Best Extra Crunchy Coleslaw (£1.60 for 500g) was voted best.

The top beef burgers, pork sausages, ribs, and chicken wings:

M&S 2 Fully Loaded Best Ever Burgers (£3.50 for 340g) was the highest scoring meat burger of the lot and Tesco Red Leicester Cheese & Jalapeno Hot Dogs (£2.50 for 400g) took top spot in the pork sausages category.

“If the weather is half as good as it was last summer, I’m sure everyone’s BBQs will be out in full force over the summer months,” Janet Leigh, senior food tester at Good Housekeeping said. “It’s great to see that a discounter like Aldi doing so well, as it offers excellent value for money for consumers.”
