Sophie Tanner

Author, performer and sologamist

Sophie Tanner lives a mere stone's throw from Brighton beach with her bumptious labrador. She is eternally curious about human behaviour and has a strong interest in literature, music and theatre. Her first novel, Reader, I Married Me, is a cheeky, light-heartedly subversive tale about a girl who decides to marry herself. Sophie believes that all good relationships begin with the self and that self love should be celebrated...and she did actually marry herself in a cultural ceremony in Brighton in 2015! In a perfect example of life imitating art, Sophie married herself at Brighton Fringe festival in May 2015. The ceremony was well-received and aimed to encourage a cultural mind shift; empowering other people to accept and celebrate themselves.
