Julianne Moore may be the Academy Awards favourite for Best Actress in a Lead Role, tipped to collect the Oscar for her role in ‘Still Alice’, but her deserved success has not come overnight.
The stunning redhead has received four nominations previously, for roles in ‘Boogie Nights’, ‘The End of the Affair’, ‘Far From Heaven’ and ‘The Hours’.
She made her big break in Robert Altman’s film ‘Short Cuts’, famously naked below the waist while ironing. From there, she’s put in sterling performances in ‘The Big Lebowski’, ‘Magnolia’, ‘Hannibal’, ‘Children of Men’, ‘A Single Man’ and ‘The Kids Are Allright’. She’s one of the stars of the blockbuster franchise ‘The Hunger Games’, and won an Emmy Award, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild gong for her performance as Alaskan governor Sarah Palin in the television film ‘Game Change’.
If she wins the Oscar, she’s sure to take it in her stride. The actress lives quietly at her home in New York with her husband Bart Freundlich and children. As well as all her screen success, she is the author of a series of children’s books.
