Because it seems Disney just can’t stop messing with classics, a rebooted version of ‘Mary Poppins’ is said to be in the works.

The original 1964 film sees Julie Andrews as no-nonsense nanny Mary Poppins, who swoops in on her flying umbrella to save the day, and teach the Banks family a few lessons about what’s really importance, via a few catchy musical numbers that still stick in our heads even today.

Cut to over five decades later, and The Hollywood Reporter have said that Disney are working on a follow-up, which would take place 20 years after the original film.

We can’t say we’re exactly thrilled at the prospect of a new film (and neither are fans of the original, evidently), but that hasn’t stopped us from pondering which contemporary stars are fit to take over the iconic character.

Here are a few of our suggestions…

Who Could Play 'Mary Poppins'?

‘Mary Poppins’, of course, is far from the first Disney classic to be given a shake-up in recent times.

In just the past few years, re-imagined versions of ‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘Cinderella’ and ‘Alice In Wonderland’ have all hit cinemas.

On top of that, several more are in the works, with a live-action remake of ‘Beauty And The Beast’, starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, recently confirmed to be in production.

Tim Burton is said to be directing a new version of ‘Dumbo’, while ‘The Jungle Book’, ‘Aladdin’, ‘Mulan’ and ‘Pinocchio’ are all said to be in the pipeline.
