NASA Curiosity Rover Takes Its First Ever Picture Of Earth From Surface Of Mars
|

This incredible image is the first ever picture of the Earth taken by Curiosity from the surface of Mars. NASA’s Rover, which captured the spectacular visual a week ago, took the picture around an hour after the sunset, with our home planet appearing as the brightest dot in the night's sky.

“A human observer with normal vision, if standing on Mars, could easily see Earth and the moon as two distinct, bright ‘evening stars’,” said a NASA spokesperson. In this enhanced image, you can see the Earth's solitary satellite chasing its host planet around the cosmos.

Correction: An earlier version of this story said the picture was the first taken of Earth from the surface of Mars. It is in fact the first taken by Curiosity of Earth from Mars. Here's an earlier picture.

Oh, NASA rover Curiosity, you make us so curious. Curious about images like this, which appear to show either camouflaged or fossilized lizards running around on Mars. A blogger caught this image, what do you think? (credit:UFO Sightings Daily)

OK, this really does look like some sort of rodent. NASA's Mars rover Curiosity shot a photo of this little guy earlier this year. But after a closer look, and a little common sense, it's probably a rock. (credit:Discovery)

Awwww. These are real photos taken of Mars' surface. But were they designed by extraterrestrials who know the human concept of love? Only the ETs know. (credit:Wikimedia Commons)

If it's a skull, it appears to have several eye sockets, a nose, and an embarrassingly large forehead. If it's a rock, it's probably not even a rock. IT'S A ROCK... LOBSTER! (credit:Wikimedia Commons)
