Director of Policy and Public Affairs, CII

David joined the CII in 2007 as Director of Policy and Public Affairs with responsibility for the CII's policy development, thought leadership and research agenda as well as its political and regulatory relationships and public affairs strategy. He has been instrumental in developing the CII's response on raising professional standards to the FSA's retail distribution review in the UK and developing the CII's research programme, including its innovative thinkpiece series of publications.

In 2012 the CII celebrates the centenary of receiving its Royal Charter and David is overseeing a year long Future Risk research project.

The CII, with over 100,000 members, is the largest professional body serving the insurance, savings and financial services sectors in the world. Raising skills levels is at the heart of the CII's objectives. CII has around 100,000 students per year and has delivered education and examinations to over 1 million students in 150 countries over the last 10 years. It is one of the largest awarding bodies in the UK after the schools boards and City and Guilds.

In addition to being a CII Director, David is also a director of the Personal Finance Society - the financial adviser arm of the CII; and is a member of the Awarding Body Committee, which oversees the CII's qualifications and awarding body activity. He is also a member of the CII's Professional Standards Board and chairs the CII's Executive Committee for the Accredited Body.
