Researcher, Teacher, Biomedical Scientist, Ukulele Player and Foucault Fan

I have been a teacher, a Head of Department, a laboratory technician and I am currently a part time PhD student at the UCL Institute of Education. My interest is in the lived experiences of teachers with depression, stress and anxiety. My own personal encounter with depression has convinced me that something is dangerous in the teaching world that can become bad if we are not careful. However, writing this biography I am reminded of Michel Foucault's work entitled 'What is an Author?' To some extent I agree with him when he suggests that author eventually disappears when we reach the point that something is related so often we forget who said it and it no longer matters who said it. So part of me has the desire to keep my subject position hidden revealing only the things that are necessary.
