Jo Atrill is a writer, teacher and mum. She is a passionate advocate, campaigner and spokesperson for parents of children with additional needs. She uses the classroom as a safe space for children to discuss and ask about people with disabilities, and ensures all of her schoolchildren meet and interact with her severely disabled son Alex, 13. She believes demystifying conditions and celebrating differences at an early age, will ensure greater societal inclusion for all. Mum to Alex, 13 and stepmum to Harry, 8 and Skye 6, she also houses a zoo including two dogs, two cats and a tortoise named Colin. All will be featuring in her upcoming book about her life with Alex and her children's book, Alex's Magical Dance, part of the Alex's Adventures series, featuring mainstream and differently abled children enjoying life, overcoming adversity and exploring the world together.
