Judy Bretschneider

Journalist, filmmaker, social entrepreneur

Judy worked as foreign news editor and Senior Producer in Beijing for Sky News. She traveled around China, East and Southeast Asia to cover historic events, natural disasters and the odd entrepreneurial farmer.

Before joining Sky, Judy was part of the Reuters team in Beijing and directed social documentaries in China. She was part of two online media start-ups, ran a production company and founded an award-winning charity in Burma which is now in its eleventh year.

Judy has lived in a bunch of countries and speaks several languages more or less successfully. In 2012 she received the European Centre for Journalism Korea Fellowship Award.

Currently, Judy is working on pkBoo, an app to connect like-minded parents nearby and prevent social isolation. She was selected for the 2015 MIT Global Entrepreneurship Bootcamp and was part of the W16 Bethnal Green Ventures Accelerator programme.
