Phil Reay-Smith is Head of Media at Ogilvy PR and a 'recovering reporter' who still occasionally relapses, often to write on the subject of gay parenting – a subject close to his heart as the adoptive father of a seven-year-old son.

At Ogilvy, his role is to bring an editorial approach to story-telling. This means creating content that is a million miles from traditional corporate communications. It's about using news values to understand what people find interesting and important.

As a correspondent, Phil reported on consumer affairs for the ITV breakfast show Daybreak, as well as from Iraq, Afghanistan, Everest and the Arctic for ITV News. His work also appeared on CNN and NBC News, as well as in The Times, the Daily Telegraph and the Independent on Sunday.
