The Queen has given her formal consent to the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
At a Privy Council meeting on Wednesday, the monarch made the declaration and will have signed a Great Seal of the Realm.
“I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council,” the declaration read.
The couple will tie the knot at St George’s Chapel on 19th May. The venue holds special meaning to Harry, since it is where his father, Prince Charles, had his civil wedding to the Duchess of Cornwall blessed in 2005.
Queen Elizabeth’s 33-year-old grandson, currently fifth-in-line to the British throne, and Markle, 36, best known for her role in the TV legal drama “Suits,” became engaged in November.
